BBBON has taken an active role in the campaign to make California a Sanctuary State, starting with encouraging the City Council to declare Oakland a Sanctuary City, and the School Board to declare a Sanctuary District, as well as lobbying for the passage of SB54, the state Sanctuary bill.

But declarations are only the first step.  We have invited representatives of three organizations involved in protecting and defending immigrants:  The Interfaith Movement for Human Integrity, Mujeries Udidas y Activas, and Kehilla Synagogue. They have been involved in "Accompaniment" for many years.  Now that the situation is even more threatening, they are reaching out broadly to involve more of us.  Please join us May 11, for a discussion of the meaning of Sanctuary and interconnections between the political and the service aspects of the campaign.
